Description
Perform required tasks to support efficient operations and ensure that manufacturing material requirements are met. Tasks include vendor sourcing and negotiations; raw materials and supplies purchasing; materials planning and supplier quality compliance.  Effectively manage the supply chain in assigned categories from establishing supplier relationships to final use of materials by manufacturing.  Coordinate with purchasing team, warehouse, shipping/receiving and accounting staff to ensure teamwork and efficiency in all related areas.

Responsibilities:

Determine materials requirements to support production schedules through planning and inventory analysis. Manage inventory to increase turns over historical levels, while maintaining adequate inventory and zero shortages.  Manage inventory levels to minimize obsolete inventory. Follow through on timely disposition of any obsolete materials.

Plan and purchase materials and supplies as required. Manage suppliers to ensure quality specifications and cost objectives are in compliance. Negotiate pricing, contracts, freight and other terms as required. Reduce costs to meet goals and objectives as established by management.

Responsible for maintaining accurate inventories. Analyze storage and inventory carrying costs in order to provide the least cost storage practices. Negotiate with outside storage for favorable terms as required.

Provide reports to management as requested regarding purchasing performance, inventory level summaries and supplier quality assurance performance.

Communicate Quality Assurance Specifications to all suppliers. Manage compliance by each supplier, maintaining all appropriate certificates and records. In conjunction with receiving department, monitor that all raw materials received meet established specifications. Resolve issues as they arise concerning fitness for use of materials throughout processing.
Requirements
BA degree in Business Management or related field preferred;

5+ years experience in Purchasing with knowledge of materials-related positions including production, planning and inventory management;

Proven strong skills in vendor negotiations;

5+ years experience with automated MRP systems required;

APICS certification preferred;
