I like your site. It's focus on the industry I've spent 20 years working in, it's great. It's about time. I also appreciate the free exchange you are trying to develop. I forwarded the web address to 2 of my peers. I think they will also appreciate your site.

The industry is in a state of change with consolidations, difficult economic times (hopefully past!) and transfat, obesity issues, etc. I believe your site could become a place to share perspectives, find new jobs, and network within the industry. It's needed.

Having been unemployed several times during the past 3 years as a Transportation and Logistics Manager, I can really gain valuable insight from your web site. While I have been successfully employed for the past 18 months, I feel that I could use a coach or mentor to polish up my image and assist me to understanding what went wrong and to learn from these mistakes.

My entire career has focussed on the food industry and arranging tranportation both inbound as well as outbound. I really like what I am doing now.

Your sight is great. Very informative and full of great articles.

Cleanliness in Food Processing
Ken

Most plants in which I have been employed do a very good job when instructing about sanitation practices.

There is one area, in many instances, sadly missed and in need of being addressed. This is in rest room practices. We have signs on walls and doors reminding to wash hands before leaving, but how many times do we install hooks ,or if so instruct, about hanging lab coats when using the facilities. Normally if you walk in and see
a lab coat draped to the floor nothing is thought of the consequences of bringing that filthy article of clothing back to the production line.
This practice should not be tolerated.

Incorporating adequate training in sanitation practices and perhaps a sign to remind us should help. I'm sure no one would want this in the food they eat and any way we can protect our product should be incorporated.

Any comments are always appreciated.

I am not sure what type of facility you work in but I work in a further processed meat plant and employees are not allowed to leave the production floor with there smocks (frocks, coats etc,,,). Leaving the production floor with your smock is a no no.
